Logo and Photo cookies

Logo and photo cookies are the latest rage in personalized gifts and party favour ideas.   Logo and photo cookies are done using a special printer that uses food colouring and the images are printed on frosting sheets, not rice paper. Frosting sheets provide the highest quality image and have no flavour or taste. I can take any picture, logo, business card, or your favourite family photo and transfer it to the top of a delicious freshly baked cookie. I can also add text to your cookie at no extra charge.   They make a great marketing and promotional tool. My recent customers have included: Kirk Marketing, Pandosy Orthodontic Clinic, Destination Planners Inc, DDB Canada, Moveo Sport and Rehab Centre, St Mary's Camrose Hospital, Plush Baskets and many birthdays and special event orders.   These cookies are guaranteed to make an impact at your event and they taste as good as they look !   Cheers, Heidi

Introducing HWY-99 - Let The Sunrise Say Goodbye

Img_2359

Some of you may have already heard the news about my husband's new song which he wrote with Cam Melnyk and Jesse Wainwright from the band State Of Shock. "Let The Sunrise Say Goodbye" by HWY-99 has been officially released as a single and is starting to get airplay across Canada on FM rock radio (99.3 the Fox in Vancouver).  During tonight's Canucks game vs. Anaheim, they also promoted the track during the 1st period - great reaction from the crowd !

Check it out on the attached YouTube link ... it's also available for purchase on iTunes.

My summer blog

The end of summer is drawing near but we've been busy doing lots of summery things like swimming, camping, biking, eating ice cream, bbq's, sleepovers, going to the beach and going on our annual summer trip to Whistler. We just returned yesterday from a wonderful weekend in Seattle with the kids. We did a lot of back to school shopping, watched a Mariners game at Safeco Field and also celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary. As a surprise, Jordan had our names up in lights on the scoreboard to announce our anniversary. He's such a sweetie!!

Here's the latest on the cookies pics attached: the cute Curious George cookies were donated to Canuck Place Children's Hospice. The feed back: "they were an absolute hit at the house with the families"! - Ali C.

Then there was The Gap order from Corporate Head office in San Francisco. They wanted to congratulate their employees in the Lower Mainland for successfully signing up 200,000 members to their new Sprize program. The order was for 800 cookies and I delivered them in beautifully packaged silver boxes to all the stores. Their feedback: "Everyone loved them and they are so cute and DELICIOUS! Thank you so much for all your hard work. We will be sure to contact you if the need for more cookies arises. Thanks!" - Irene G. ( Marketing Manager at Gap Inc. - Corporate office SanFran, CA)

To wrap-up Summer 2010, we're trying to squeeze in a Cultus Lake waterslides trip this Wednesday but it looks like rain is in the forecast so this may be the first year that we don't get to go. With back to school around the corner, I'm already taking orders for September and for Thanksgiving so please contact me soon to book. I have many new gift boxes available for Thanksgiving cookie gifts as well.

I hope you and your families have a safe and enjoyable Labour Day long weekend !

Cheers,
Heidi

Summer Holidays

My favourite season is finally here ! It's time to work on my tan and get some R&R. I haven't posted a blog in quite some time as I was extremely busy with orders for dance recitals, thank you gifts, many baby showers and wedding orders in the past months. Just to give you an idea of how busy I was, I baked and decorated 1200 cookies from May 31st to June 18th. Over the next month, I have a couple of weddings and a corporate golfing event that I'm designing cookie favours for and other than that I'm taking the summer off.

I've attached some cookie designs to this posting and will be updating my gallery shortly.

My next date at the Steveston Farmer's market will be Sunday Sept. 12th ... hope to see you there !

Have a wonderful and safe summer !

Steveston Farmer's Market success

What fun we had at the Steveston Farmer's Market yesterday ! Take a look at my new banner, and matching t-shirts and hats that I outfitted all the kids in. We sold all 85 carnival themed cookies by the end of the day. Thanks to my hubby Jordan, our kids Hallie and Justin and our super supportive friends for helping out. In particular, I'd like to thank Julie, Allie, Bella, Noah,Patricia, Leah, Donna & Brooke for doing such a great job selling the cookies. Your support means the world to me !

I also wanted to thank the SFAM organizers and volunteers for doing such a fantastic job on opening day. I'm already looking forward to the next market day.

Cheers,

Heidi

Guitars, Cheese, Yoda & Thomas the train

These were just a few of the special requests for Custom Cookies that were ordered this past weekend.

I wanted to show my cookie decorating process from the time they come out of the oven to the finished product but I forgot to take a picture of them right out of the oven, but I think you get the idea. For the starting point here I've outlined 50 guitar shaped cookies, then I flood it with royal icing and give it some basic details. They are left to dry for at least 8 hrs then I pipe them with the final details, add the silver dragees and paint the name with silver pearl dust. I then place the cookies in bags while my daughter labels them and cuts the quantity of ribbon I need to do the bow.

The cheese cookies were challenging as I made a mistake on the first batch by making them look too cartoonish. I sent them to my daughters class on Friday and had to start all over. The order was for 20 packages and the cookies are approx 5" so it took a lot of time as each were hand cut using a ruler and the tip of an icing tube to create the cheese hole effect. I don't regret redoing them because they look much better but they kept me up until 2am Saturday morning.

Instead of cakes, a mom ordered platters of cookies for the dual birthday she was having. Some of the children invited have severe peanut and nut allergies so she didn't want to take a chance and that's why she called me. The mom asked if I had any ideas on how to put candles on the cookies. Well, I made little indentations on the personalized cookies to hold the candles. It really works ... just melt a little wax on the indentation and quickly stick the candle on it.
